Clearly evil but extremely effective
Update March 2020: My love of Spikeo (affectionate name for this inanimate object) is known through all my friends, and over time many have tried it. At least 4 of my friends who have tried mine ending up buying one. Even people who think it looks terrifying have found it remarkably soothing. One thing: About a year into my relationship with Spikeo I bought another one to live at my parent’s house for when I have longer visits over the holidays. The new one was SO sharp — turns out that with daily use, the spikes get slightly dull over time. Eventually I felt like my original wasn’t packing the same punch, so bought a new one for myself about 18 months after the original purchase. My new one is gray, which is actually quite pretty and a little less garish. I would advise everyone to get new spikes every couple years or so if you want that signature OUCH with your pain relief.Original review:I have fibromyalgia and have spent hundreds of dollars on various pain remedies throughout the years. Most things haven’t really helped, including physical therapy — the only thing that would provide relief was Tylenol and scalding hot showers. This mat appears to be invented by a sadist and it definitely HURTS, but with regular use my pain has become much, much better. It also helps relieve pain when it happens, but I’ve found it to be more useful in reducing pain generally rather than addressing a particular pain spot.My best evidence of its effectiveness is that I get extremely thirsty after massages and the same thing happens when I lie on the mat for 20-40 minutes. I don’t know what the thirst means (a quick Google says something about the lymphatic system?) but I take it as a sign that this mat actually does something for my knotted-up muscles.I love the mat so much that I made the following meme. I hope it helps in your decision on whether to purchase this.

Great for Muscle Relaxation and Pain Relief
I’ve been dealing with back problems for a while now, and someone recommended I try an acupressure mat. I lay on it while watching TV—it’s a great way to relax and unwind.There is a noticeable difference when lying on it on carpet versus hardwood floors. The carpet makes it feel a little softer, while the hardwood gives you a more intense experience. If you take your shirt off, you’ll definitely feel it more, but that can actually be a good thing if you’re looking for a deeper sensation.Standing on the mat also provides a surprising amount of relief for my feet, even more than it does for my back. It’s a nice way to stimulate circulation and get the blood flowing.I think this mat is great for relieving tension and promoting relaxation. It’s especially helpful for keeping your blood moving after long periods of sitting or standing. I’ve been using it daily, and I’m already feeling the benefits. Highly recommend it for anyone dealing with muscle soreness or just looking for a simple way to relieve stress!

Love what it does
I love that this works. It’s sharp and it hurts at first but once you are laid fully on it, it is AMAZING! I can feel my blood circulating throughout my body and I feel so good afterwards. I fall asleep on it but I feel great when I wake up. The pillow is the BEST!! I feel energized in the days after using it. I love to stand on it because it relieves so much pressure from my feet, although it is agonizing at first but once passed, you’ll love the feeling.My 76yo mom had siatica on the back of her leg, laid on it for 30min – 1 hr and the next day it was gone. She used it again and was able to withstand for 1.5hrs.

Hello.This accupressure mat is a gem !It truly works as described.Not only is the ache released,But it is healthy at ALL times,To be implemented regularly.Yes,It takes a moment to adjust to the physical sensation;Once that is accepted,It actually is interesting & feels good.The mattress & pillow covers remove simply for washing.The unit folds nicely to store in a small space.It is lightweight;Easily portable.The colour of the covering is solid black.It is a great value for the money.Thank you ! to this company for creating this acupressure mat & pillow set;It is healthy & makes me feel invigorated !

this is one of those reviews I can’t blame it all on amazon. it clearly sates acupuncture, but I was thinking the pressure spikes would be more rubber like. this is not the case. they are sharp hard and plastic. I am a tatted up truck driver so my tolerance is pretty high, but this was too much for me. so unless your a member of the adams family and sleep on a bed of nails than I wouldn’t recommend it. was going to return it it but when I said I bought it by mistake they wanted to charge almost half of what it cost to buy just to ship it back so. I’m just gonna eat it.

Si me ha ayudado con el dolor de espalda. En especial cuando amanezco sin mucha movilidad o con sensación de torceduras o de contracciones. No es fácil en un principio por que duele un poco acostarse, pero luego de los primeros 5 min, es más llevadero. Lo ideal es estar mínimo 15 min e ir incrementando. Las veces que lo he hecho, si veo una diferencia en sensación dolor y movimiento al levantarme. Si lo recomiendo.
